General Purpose of Job:Must demonstrate knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate injury prevention information to families with children. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possess the ability to assess needs of the family in regard to each child's unique situation.

- Always maintains utmost level of confidentiality.
- Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
- Must have own reliable vehicle for daily travel.
- Able to work at least two Saturdays a week and some evenings. Employee will offset in same week.
- Must have basic computer competency in Microsoft programs.
- Works collaboratively with the community to participate in the assessment and planning of potential injury prevention programs.
- Assists with program implementation and evaluation.
- Acts as a resource and leader in injury prevention efforts within the community and region.
- Seeks out and participates in established local injury prevention groups such as Nueces County Safe Kids Coalition, Coastal Bend Regional Advisory Council, and others.
- Researches opportunities to initiate new injury prevention programs.
- Maintain liaisons with the Corpus Christi Police Department, Nueces County Sheriff's Office, Nueces County Health Department, Texas Department of State Health Services, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Department of Transportation, Child Fatality Review Team, and others.
- Assists with ordering of program resources.
- Works collaboratively with the Trauma Registrar to access data for analysis of potential needs for injury prevention.
- Participates and provides community presentations.
- Assists with staffing of information/safety booths during health fairs and community events.
- Assists with developing and designing brochures, pamphlets, and fact sheets as necessary.
- Obtains Child Passenger Safety Technician certification within six months of hire and remains current.
- Works collaboratively with Injury Prevention Coordinator and Trauma Manager for grant opportunities.
Education and/or Experience:- A bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University is preferred, as is two years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in computer applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, the Internet, and publishing, including the ability to navigate the Internet and other web-based communication mediums.
- Experience researching, creating, coordinating, maintaining, scheduling, presenting, and evaluating Injury Prevention programs and data.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsChild Passenger Safety Technician certification within six months of hire. Must retain current certification.
