INPATIENT CARE UNIT (IPCU)The Inpatient Care Unit (IPCU) at the Critical Access Hospital provides a diverse group of patients with outstanding, quality care. The age of our patients varies from day to day including pediatric through geriatric. Patients are admitted with medical, surgical, telemetry and progressive care diagnosis. IPCU has a total of 18 patient rooms including private, semi-private as well as two rooms fully equipped to manage an intensive care patient while awaiting transfer to a higher level of care.DescriptionThe Nurse Manager is a registered nurse who has 24-hour accountability and responsibility for the operation of the nursing unit, at the direction of the ACNO.The Nurse Manager will:
  • Be responsible for providing service excellence and quality in patient care delivery in accordance with the plans of the division of nursing and the mission of the Hospital.
  • Serve as a supervisor, leader, clinical resource, role model, and extension of administration to uphold institutional priorities, policies and practices including but not limited to maintaining healthy work environments and providing each patient the best care in the right place at the right time.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with all patient care disciplines and leadership partners.
  • Promote professional behaviors and standards while supporting organizational imperatives and promoting an environment of Patient and Family Centered Care.
  • Demonstrate excellent people skills, problem identification and resolution abilities.
  • Be responsible for meeting the standards set forth by CMS, other regulatory agencies and the Standards of Nursing Care and Practice.
  • Serve as ambassador for the Hospital while on and off duty.
RequirementsActive Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing or compact state RN license in good standing.Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or certificate from an accredited school of nursingBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing (preferred)Three (3) years' clinical experienceOne (1) year current experience in nursing management with demonstrated leadership ability.Telemetry experienceBasic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare ProvidersAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)Certification in Nursing Leadership (preferred)Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)Excellent people skills.Problem identification and resolution abilities.Possesses necessary skills to promote teamwork.Demonstrates integrity.Demonstrates initiative.Demonstrated interpersonal relationships in a manner which enhances communication, promotes conflict resolution and facilitates staff mentoring and development.Demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities and the ability to work in stressful conditions.Ability to foster growth in themselves as well as others
