Inspector - Compliance - BNSPrint ( - Compliance - BNSSalary$42,078.40 AnnuallyLocationCity County Building, INJob TypeFull TimeJob Number08724DepartmentBusiness and Neighborhood ServicesOpening Date10/31/2024Closing Date1/29/2025 11:59 PM EasternDescriptionBenefitsPosition SummaryPosition is responsible for the review, inspection, and enforcement of infrastructure construction improvements proposed and/or under construction as well as the issuance and resolution of infrastructure violations relative to permitted and non-permitted construction.Position ResponsibilitiesEnsures that all infrastructure improvements proposed, completed, or under construction are in compliance with applicable City Standards and Specifications.Issues Notices of Violation / Stop Work Orders and fee assessment for construction activities not meeting applicable City Standards and Specifications.Investigates Requests for Service and take appropriate action.Evaluates the impact of proposed infrastructure improvements to the specific site and surrounding area.Serves as a liaison between contractors, businesses, property owners, and other divisions of the City as well as State agencies.Participates in the plan review process for infrastructure construction activities.Conducts field investigations and inter-agency meetings to provide input for the permit issuance and necessary construction monitoring processes.Requires plan revisions in compliance with standards and ordinancesEnsures that assigned construction projects are constructed on schedule and in compliance with specifications and within the scope of the permit(s).Maintains efficient and effective daily reports and other required reports for all assigned work.Maintains project files of all written and verbal communication pertaining to construction activities.Checks existing and potential infrastructure field problems relating to permitted and non-permitted work.Attends and successfully completes any required training courses.This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.QualificationsHigh school diploma and/or GED, and two (2) years of related work experience required. Ability to become certified by the American Public Works Association in Construction Inspections. Ability to operate standard office equipment including: computer, mobile data computer, fax machine and printer. Ability to read and interpret Construction Plans. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to obtain and hold a valid Indiana Driver's License.Incumbent must certify in the appropriate, approved discipline as prescribed by the Director of Code Enforcement, to maintain employment.Independent JudgmentEstablished policies and procedures control actions. Independent judgement occurs daily when determining compliance with existing and proposed infrastructure construction.
