Inspector AFG Group is seeking qualified individuals to serve as on-site Inspector(s) in the New York/New Jersey Metropolitan area. The Inspector(s) shall serve on building facility of various sizes and complexities. Responsibilities/Duties Include but Not Limited To:
  • Inspect the work of roofing construction activities
  • Coordinate pre-construction meetings
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics or computer-generated reports
  • Inspection of contractor work in place to ensure compliance with plans, specifications and all applicable codes
  • Understanding of scheduling, budgeting, materials and means/methods of construction industry design standards
  • Communicate effectively with owner representatives, architects/engineers, end-users' clients and contractors
  • Verify change order scope of work
  • Verify work in place quantities and record dates of installation on record drawings
  • Review and understand manufacturer details and contractor shop drawings
  • Preparing an Inspector's Daily Report (IDR) including manpower, equipment, materials, activities, photographs with identifications and producing project related reports as required
  • Provide assistance as required for special inspections
  • Assist in reviewing and advising on field conditions and RFI's
  • Reviewing approved drawings for constructability and code compliance
  • Ensure safe working conditions
  • Performing other duties as may be required
Job RequirementsMinimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent work experience
  • 10 years' relevant experience managing and/or inspecting field work
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations, with 30 Hour OSHA Safety Certification
  • Knowledge of NYC DOB requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Physical and Environmental Demands

  • Communicating with others to exchange information
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned
  • Occasionally moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
