Work for the Smart Safety CompanyRoll Rite,a Safe Fleet company and a leader in the truck equipment manufacturing industry, is looking for an Installation Technician to work as part of a team installing and repairing Automated Tarp Systems. This important team member partners with others to install Roll-Rite or Pulltarps systems according to company processes, and operating manual instructions. The Installation Technician performs basic wiring, does minor welding and operates industrial sewing machines to repair and produce completed products.Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Installations:
  • Prepare customer truck/trailer by inspecting equipment for installation.
  • Installs and services company products and/or systems efficiently according to service schedules.
  • Use tape measurers, sewing machines, drills, impacts and welders to install tarp systems or make repairs.
  • Basic steel welding of bracketry and other support items for system installation.
  • Runs appropriate lengths of electrical wire through frames, rails, and connects.
  • Tests electrical plugs, motors and switches.
  • Documents all work performed according to company guidelines.
  • Qualifies service work for warranty coverage within company policy and in conjunction with management.
  • Examines issues with walk-in customers and makes quick repairs if possible.
Tarp Sewing
  • Sets up and operates industrial sewing machines, as well as performs machine maintenance to include: Oiling; Properly threading; Cleaning machines.
  • Effectively reads and interprets the job order, shop drawings and verbal/written instructions.
  • Prepares materials to be used for each job by laying material out, accurately measuring with a ruler and cutting with material scissors.
  • Moves completed product from work table to appropriate area by lifting as needed.
  • Applies knowledge of industrial sewing to accurately move product around during sewing operation.
  • Attaches job order to completed product.
  • Adheres to safety guidelines at all times.
  • Reports problems or discrepancies to management immediately.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Prior work experience on industrial sewing machines is desired but will train the right candidate.Language Ability:Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Math Ability:Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Work Environment:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
