The YMCA of Greater New York is seeking an Institutional Giving Development Specialist to support the Institutional Giving team in raising more than $3.5 million annually across restricted, unrestricted, and capital campaign revenue streams.Reporting to the Associate Director of Institutional Giving, the Institutional Giving Development Specialist will manage a portfolio of 40+ corporate and foundation accounts, working to maximize fundraising and deepen our partners' involvement with the Y. The Institutional Giving Development Specialist will be an excellent multi-tasker, contributing to the Fund Development team's annual fundraising goals and expanding the Y's corporate and foundation donors' pipeline. The ideal candidate will be a proactive frontline fundraiser with knowledge of the fundamentals of prospect moves management and portfolio management. They will also serve as a compelling advocate for the Y's mission and community programs. - Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Two (2) or more years of grant writing experience.
- Fundraising, project management, sales, or portfolio management experience preferred.
- Proven track record of managing multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Ability to work interactively and collaborate as a team.
- Exercises exceptional judgment.
- A manifest and compelling passion for the Y's mission and programs.
- Exceptional persuasive writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
- Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in working with project budgets and financial reports.
- Strong relationship builder. Skilled at working across teams within the organization to source information.
- Experience with Salesforce preferred.
Essential Functions
- Actively manage a portfolio of 40+ corporate and foundation partners and prospects through all phases of the giving cycle: identification, research and qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Lead the writing of high-quality reports, proposals, LOIs, and other fundraising materials.
- Work with colleagues across departments, including Youth and Community Development, Membership, and Aquatics, to assess RFPs and develop compelling proposals.
- Lead the Fund Development department's relationship with the YMCA of the USA.
- Conduct research on partners and prospects to support pipeline development.
- Actively maintain a current body of knowledge about the Y's programs and development priorities.
- Execute an ambitious and strategic schedule of correspondence, meetings, and site visits that deepen donors' relationships with the Y.
- Maintain current and accurate records in the database and files. Manage deadline tracking.
- Assist with Association Office special events as needed.
- Actively participate in staff meetings and retreats.
