Description
Located in the beautiful mountains of Southeastern Kentucky, the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center (EKVC) is a 120 bed long-term care facility providing skilled nursing care and rehabilitation for Kentucky veterans.
EKVC is operated by the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs and was built for the sole purpose of taking care of Kentucky Veterans.
The Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center is looking for a self- motivated, energetic Institutional Recreation Leader I who possesses the skills, knowledge, and desire to be a part of our team.
Expectations for this position include but are not limited to:
* Plans, directs, coordinates and leads various activities in the therapeutic recreational program for 120 veterans in our skilled nursing facility.
* Recreational therapy personnel works closely with residents, all other departments, and with community outreach.
They will work within a team-centered environment to meet our commitment to serving Kentucky's Veterans by fostering Independence, preserving Dignity, and providing Compassionate Care.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education, special education or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in planned recreation, physical education, special education or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Typically works in an institutional or hospital facility. Typically work is of a moderate physical nature and often in an outdoor setting conducting recreational activities usually with hospital patients or inmates.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
