PURPOSE STATEMENT Provide assistance to students in activities designed by therapists and certificated personnel to stimulate sensory-motor development; assist students in developing self-help skills such as feeding, toilet training, dressing and undressing, and improving mobility; assist teacher in development of verbal and non-verbal communications and social interactions, individually and in groups; supervise students in classrooms, on the playground, and on field trips; assist in preparing food for students and staff; perform housekeeping chores; administer, monitor, and keep records of required student medications; perform bodily care chores; perform routine clerical work; confer with teachers on programs and materials; attend staff meetings when requested.

Requirements / Qualifications
Instructional Assistants/Paraeducators, whether general education or special education, are required by law to be able to demonstrate knowledge of, and the ability to assist with, instruction, reading/language arts, and mathematics, either by possessing an Associate's Degree or higher, 48 semester college units, or passing a minimum proficiency exam.
