MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Associate of Arts Degree or higher
  • LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIRMENTS:
  • Pre-employment requirements include a Washington State Patrol check and FBI clearance.
  • KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with students, staff and parents.
  • Develop positive working relationships with students and staff.
  • Demonstrated interest in working with students.
  • Willingness to receive instruction and/or supervision from the assigned teacher or supervisor.
  • Strong verbal skills, able to communicate positively and compassionately.
  • Willingness to participate in planning student learning activities and maintain required student learning data.

  • Exhibit an appropriate demeanor conducive to a public work setting associated with being a role model for children and youth.

  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working in a school environment.
  • Experience working with students at all grade levels.
  • Training and experience in the areas of youth education, child development, outdoor skills, Wilderness First Responder, tracking, botany, martial arts, photography, journalism, fitness and nutrition.
  • Current First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Seeing to monitor students during classroom activities; hearing and speaking to exchange information and provide assistance to students; bending at the waist to assist students; walking and standing for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipment or office equipment; pushing wheelchairs; lifting up to 50 pounds; assist in lifting more than 50 pounds; exercise strength and agility to restrain individuals in a physical altercation. The Details ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Persons may perform any combination of the essential functions shown below.   • Work cooperatively with students, classroom teachers, special education teacher/s, specialist/s, parent/s and administration while performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and provide support to teachers and staff with student discipline.
  • Coach and supervise students as assigned.
  • Provide assistance to teachers and assigned staff in such activities as developing instructional materials, managing student performance, monitoring results and related data, etc., managing behavioral problems.
  • Participate in staff meetings and parent-teacher conferences, as appropriate.
  • Operate office equipment including computers, copiers, fax machines, electric calculator, cameras, keyboard and laminating if requested.
  • May assist in playground duty and lunch room duty.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the supervising teacher or administrator.

Dependent Care Assistant Program (DCAP) account and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) if they qualify. NEW EMPLOYEES will be evaluated for eligibility at the time of hire and given written notification and instructions on how to enroll if eligible or how to appeal if not eligible. All eligible employees must enroll in benefits using SEBB My Account within their thirty day enrollment period. The employee may waive medical coverage under certain circumstances. If an eligible employee does not enroll in benefits during their enrollment period they will be defaulted into medical coverage. Employees not initially eligible for SEBB Benefits may qualify later if your hours change or you work more than 630 hours in a school year.
