POSITION SUMMARYResponsible for observing and assessing the classroom activities of the program and providing on-the-job guidance and training to the program staff, in order to improve the qualifications and training of classroom staff, to maintain high quality education service and to promote career development in the program. Utilizing the Practice Based Coaching model the Mentor-Coach's primary function is to assist educators to implement and measurable improve high quality teaching practices. The Mentor-Coach aligns guidance with the teaching practices identified by the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) and/or other monitoring tools approved by the program.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIESEducation /Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Minimum of 2-years' experience working with young children in an early childhood setting or a public-school setting at a grade level no higher than elementary school.
- CLASS Reliable and maintain certification yearly or willing to obtain within the first 6-months of employment is required.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience with infant, toddler, preschool and expectant mothers programming, as well as adult principles of learning.
- First Aid/CPR Certified or willing to obtain within the first 6-months of employment is required.
- Health Determination/TB Skin Test and Fingerprint Background Check prior to employment
- Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) is preferred
Driver's License/Proof of Insurance: Some staff members may be required to maintain a current New Mexico driver's license, an insurable driving record, and provide proof of current liability insurance meeting or exceeding State-required minimum coverages.
