Certified - Position - Other, please specify Job Number 370####### Start Date Open Date 01/16/2024 Closing Date Job Description POSITION TITLE: INSTRUCTIONAL DATA SPECIALIST REPORTS TO: COORDINATOR OF SCHOOL & TEACHER QUALITY OVERTIME STATUS: EXEMPT PAY GRADE: 711 (10+1 MONTHS)JOB SUMMARY:The Instructional Data Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing the logistics and operations of various types of tests administered within a school setting, as well as maintaining accurate and confidential data files of student achievement, and will work to support data literacy training for teachers and administrators in the use of data to improve instruction. This position will also review school, state, and federal data to develop comparison trends and design and develop reports as requested. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth execution of exams, assessments, and other standardized tests, as well as using the assessment data to help schools address achievement goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Coordinate and plan the logistics for various tests, including but not limited to standardized assessments, college entrance exams, benchmarks, and school-specific tests.
  • Follow the division testing schedule, ensuring that all required tests are administered on time and without conflicts.
  • Oversee the setup and administration of tests, ensuring that testing procedures are followed accurately and consistently.
  • Provide training and instructions to ensure proper administration protocols are followed. Assign roles and responsibilities to proctors, test administrators, and other staff involved in the testing process.
  • Implement and maintain strict security measures to prevent cheating, unauthorized access to test materials, and any other form of academic misconduct.
  • Communicate test-related information, instructions, and any changes effectively.
  • Work with school and division personnel to ensure appropriate accommodations are provided for students with disabilities or special needs, following legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Collect and manage testing data, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Address and resolve any issues or challenges that may arise during the testing process, making quick decisions to ensure minimal disruptions.
  • Analyze and prepare reports from local, state, and national assessment data as it relates to individual student performance and school improvement.
  • Develop and maintain historical student and school data files to monitor and track performance.
  • Interpret and review assessment data with administrators and teachers: support planning of action steps.
  • Work with school staff, as needed, in one-on-one and group settings to conduct training in the use of data to improve student results.
  • Attends as well as leads as appropriate, training sessions and site meetings related to assigned responsibilities.
  • Perform related tasks as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects, and some light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. May require hearing, vision, physical coordination and/or exertion and effort in excess of those listed above. Ability to drive and travel from various school locations. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Must possess a Bachelor's in education or a related field. Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license. Previous teaching experience preferred. Master's degree preferred. Expert ability to learn and implement technology is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Must have experience in using academic data to impact instruction and school systems thinking and planning. Must have the ability to interact positively with teachers and administrators, and have knowledge of the school improvement process.
