Job Description:

SUNY Geneseo invites applications for an Instructional Designer to join the department of Computing & Information Technology. This position provides expertise to faculty in course design and creation, incorporating best practices in pedagogy, methodology, use of digital content, and course outcomes.

The Instructional Designer offers direct technical support to faculty, staff, and students utilizing various technologies in face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses. Instructional Designers analyze courses to ensure they meet or exceed online teaching standards using Geneseo's course readiness checklist to review with faculty those criteria that may need further development before course delivery. They also administer the campus LMS in collaboration with SUNY services.

Professional development is encouraged and supported. The Instructional Designer will maintain expertise on supported digital technologies, including Brightspace Learning Management System, integrated digital tools, and communication tools. A successful candidate will be able to work on a highly collaborative technical team to provide training and documentation to the college community.

Flexible hybrid work arrangements may be an option subject to NYS, SUNY, and Geneseo rules, regulations, and policies.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree by time of appointment

* Demonstrated experience in providing instructional design and support and interest in how technology can be used to improve or transform instruction

* Experience supporting and training for instructional tools such as learning management systems

* Demonstrated technical troubleshooting, analysis, and problem-solving skills

* Superior commitment to serving others with empathy, timeliness, accuracy, thoroughness, and professionalism

* Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive working/teaching environment

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree in educational technology, instructional technology, or related field

* 1-2 years professional experience in Instructional Design and LMS administration

* Professional experience in a higher education environment

* Experience in teaching or taking courses in online or hybrid formats

* Knowledge of Quality Matters, OSCQR, or other course accessibility standards

* Experience creating documentation, tutorials, and instructional materials

* Demonstrated enthusiasm for technology and its application to the teaching and learning environment

License/Certification Other Skills Required Supervision Received

The Instructional Designer reports to the Director of Educational Technology in the Computing & Information Technology department.
