Job Description:
Summary: The Instructional Designer (ID) designs program and curriculum development projects for new and existing programs at Education Affiliates' (EA) schools and colleges. Thoroughly embracing EA's vision, mission, and values, the ID is essential in the curriculum design and development process that includes the updating of existing courses, and development of new courses. Under the guidance of the Director of Curriculum Development, the ID ensures that a new or existing course is designed to make the class most beneficial to students in each program of study. An ID must have a desire to enhance and improve in-person and online instructional materials. They must follow Education Affiliates guidelines, policies, and regulations as they pertain to curriculum in career education. A successful ID will work well in groups and be able to develop curriculum, collaborate with faculty, program directors and other members for content expertise and guidance of the curriculum. At a national level, an ID will be responsible for providing guidance and receiving direction from multiple curriculum committees. Key Job Functions:
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with subject matter experts, faculty members, and curriculum developers to design and develop engaging and effective learning materials, including course content, assessments, multimedia resources, and interactive activities.
  • Instructional Design: Apply instructional design principles, learning theories, and best practices to create learner-centered, accessible, and interactive learning experiences that promote student engagement, critical thinking, and knowledge retention.
  • Technology Integration: Leverage educational technologies and digital tools to enhance the delivery, accessibility, and interactivity of instructional materials. Provide expertise in learning management systems, multimedia authoring tools, virtual labs, simulations, and other instructional technologies.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality, accuracy, and alignment of instructional materials with learning objectives, standards, and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular reviews, assessments, and revisions to improve content effectiveness and relevance.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple curriculum development projects simultaneously, from conceptualization to implementation, while adhering to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including faculty, administrators, and instructional technologists, to achieve project goals and milestones.
  • Professional Development: Stay abreast of emerging trends, innovations, and best practices in instructional design, educational technology, and online learning. Participate in professional development activities, workshops, conferences, and training programs to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Classification: Exempt Work Hours: Minimum of a five day work week in the Eastern time zone; some evenings and weekends as required. Working Environment: Interior/office Position Requirements: The candidate for this position shall meet the following requirements:
    • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, or related field
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or educational technology, preferably in higher education or online learning environments.
    • Proficiency in instructional design theories, methodologies, and frameworks (e.g., ADDIE, Universal Design for Learning).
    • Strong technical skills in educational technologies, learning management systems (Canvas), multimedia authoring tools (e.g., H5P, Adobe Captivate), and web-based applications.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
    • Experience with accessibility standards, copyright laws, and intellectual property rights in online education is desirable.
