Instructional Designer Needed for Lumen-Based LMS Team in ME. Location: Augusta, ME Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled Instructional Designer to join our Lumen-based Learning Management System (LMS) team. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and implement engaging and effective content that enhances the learning experience for our organization. This role will be responsible for analyzing learning needs, creating instructional materials, and ensuring content is optimized for online delivery. Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify learning needs and objectives.
  • Design and develop instructional content, including course materials, multimedia elements, and assessments for the Lumen-based LMS.
  • Create engaging and interactive learning experiences that facilitate knowledge retention and application.
  • Utilize instructional design theories, practices, and methods to build user-centric content.
  • Develop and maintain templates and standards for course design to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Implement best practices for online and blended learning methodologies.
  • Assess and analyze the effectiveness of instructional materials and update content as needed.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to timelines and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Conduct usability testing and feedback sessions to refine instructional content.
  • Train and support faculty and staff in utilizing the LMS features effectively.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Technologies, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in instructional design and content development, preferably within a corporate or higher education environment.
  • Familiarity with Lumen Learning platforms and LMS integration is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and e-learning best practices.
  • Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, Captivate) and multimedia editing software.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to adapt and customize content to different learning styles and requirements.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with SCORM, xAPI, or other e-learning standards is a plus.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and commitment to inclusive design.
