Salary: Starting at $17 / hour

Job Summary

The Instructional Paraprofessional position plays a key role in shaping students futures by mentoring small groups of students, reviewing material one-on-one with students, providing instructional support activities to students that are designed by the teacher, collecting assessment data, and supervising the academic work of students. The position will also assist in preparing curriculum materials, grading papers, and tracking attendance.

Responsibilities:
  • Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials
  • Monitors student work and supervise curriculum-based testing
  • Provides tutoring to individual or small group and/or assist students with makeup work
  • Helps administer and score student assessment
  • Reviews material with students one-on-one or in small groups
  • Ensures students follow school and class rules
  • Implements School-Wide Positive Behavior Support program on a daily basis
  • Prepares for lessons by gathering materials or setting up equipment
  • Tracks attendance, correct papers, and calculate grades
  • Performs clerical work to document student grades and other paperwork
  • Enforces school-wide positive support program, disciplinary codes, and rewards
  • Performs classroom maintenance and instructional duties as assigned
  • Assists in activities like field trips, academic support sessions, and other events and programs
  • Supervises students in class, between classes, during lunch and recess
  • Uses Microsoft Teams to receive important updates about Education and Woods-wide events.
  • Uses care logic to document incidents in school and in the residence.
  • Collaborates and follows feedback and rules related to work setting (e.g., residence and school).
  • Attends scheduled team and staff meetings as requested.
  • Attends scheduled in-service days and training courses as required by the program.
  • Adheres to all Woods policies and procedures.
  • Assists with the instruction of daily living skills in the students home or school as scheduled.
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of instructional techniques to promote student independence (e.g., prompt hierarchies).
  • Uses escalation methods to support student problem behavior (e.g., Ukeru).
  • Participates in school-based orientation, training and meetings as requested.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with peers and management staff.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Proof of a High School Diploma, GED with a minimum of 36 (2 years) college credits is required.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Previous experience as a paraprofessional, teaching assistant or related position preferred.
  • Participation in additional professional development training as requested.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
