Primary Function The Instructional Support Teacher Leaders (ISTLs) will collaborate and work as a cohesive team to provide support to educators in effective instructional practices, data analysis to focus instruction, implementation of the Chester Upland School District's initiatives, and the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) for academic development. General Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides instructional support to improve all aspects of the implementation of Pennsylvania Core Standards and the Chester Upland School District's Curriculum Maps
- Collaborates with colleagues in meeting the mission and goals of the Chester Upland School District's instructional program, provides in-class support to model and demonstrate components of the Chester Upland School District's Curriculum and lessons aligned to PA Core Standards
- Supports the implementation of best practices in Literacy, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies
- Engages in one-to-one and small group presentations in the implementation of instructional components and assessment practices
- Supports programs that meet the instructional needs of all students, including those with diverse learning needs, in areas such as, but not limited to special education, gifted education, and differentiated instruction
- Supports the implementation of programs that support English Language Learners and cultural diversity; demonstrates effective teaching methods and practices, procedures for analyzing assessment data to guide instruction
- Shares resources regarding innovative ideas
- Communicates ideas regarding the Chester Upland School District's instructional initiatives, and monitors the reading progress of students and provides feedback to the Principal
- Collaborate with the Chester Upland School District's Director of Curriculum and Instruction to develop, communicate, and support the curriculum and instructional initiatives of the Chester Upland School District's and the Chester Upland School District's Action Plan in all schools
- Collaborate with the Chester Upland School District's Director of Curriculum and Instruction and other Instructional Support Teacher Leaders to support the instructional programs for all schools
- Document support in weekly logs, submitted to the Chester Upland School District's Director of Curriculum and Instruction
- Collaborate with the Chester Upland School District's Director of Curriculum and Instruction to collect, analyze, and interpret instructional and assessment data to inform instructional practices, areas to support and professional development
- Develop rapport with the instructional leaders of schools to support their plan of implementation of Chester Upland School District's instructional priorities, school improvement, and academic achievement
- Collaborate with the assigned school's leadership team to support the academic achievement of students
- Collaborate with the professional learning teams to support the academic achievement of student
- Serve as a key point of contact in schools, supporting instruction and achievement through the use of the PA Core Standards, SAS, Chester Upland School District's Curriculum in English and Language Arts and the literacy instructional model
- Instructional coaching and modeling of effective practices in all components of the instructional program
Other Requirements
Specialized teaching assignments may require additional training and/or certification. Must be able to pass an initial fingerprint and background clearance checks May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds. May be required to work outside normal working hours. May be required to travel to perform work functions. Ideal Candidate will demonstrate the following and/or have experience with:

Qualifications:
A regularly appointed certified teacher in the area of High School Content Certification, Reading, Elementary Education, Special Education, or ESOL/Bilingual Education Have demonstrated evidence of effective instruction for at least three (3) years Demonstrated knowledge of system-wide literacy initiatives within the last year and committed to being a part of the Chester Upland School District's ongoing systemic reform in literacy Have no unsatisfactory documents in applicant's personnel file from the past 18 months Have an excellent record of attendance and punctuality during the past three (3) years (defined as no more than 18 occasions of personal illness, excluding one extended period of illness) Facilitate and attend compensated learning institutes Available for the Leadership Institute during the last week in August The information in this job description is for compliance with the Chester Upland School District Board Policy and the Americans with Disabilities Act (A.D.A.).
