Duties and Responsibilities Teaching:
  • Maintain a full teaching load of didactic, clinical and laboratory classes.
  • May serve as site coordinator/instructor/supervisor for students assigned to the Mobile Dental Hygiene Unit. Service:
  • May assist with the administrative requirements of the Mobile Dental Hygiene Unit in terms of site recruitment, ordering and maintenance of supplies, unit maintenance and transport, patient coordination and referrals.
  • Serve on program, school, college or university committees.
  • Perform student academic and career advisement.
  • Engage in program, school, college, university, and professional service activities for the university and surrounding communities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on training, program development, and accreditation activities.
  • Participate in recruiting activities. Research:
  • Pursue external funding for research and/or service
Work may require travel to Mobile Dental Hygiene Unit site locations for clinic sessions. Clinic sessions will involve the dental hygiene treatment of patients with a variety of conditions. Supervision of community events may require evening and/or weekend time commitments. Minimum Qualifications
  • Candidates must have a Master's degree or higher in Dental Hygiene or related discipline, or have an intention to enroll in such a program
  • Minimum of three years of experience in the clinical practice of dental hygiene.
  • Expertise and knowledge of best practices in clinical settings
  • Louisiana licensure or eligibility for licensure
  • Certification in local anesthesia and nitrous oxide-oxygen conscious sedation or eligibility for such certification
  • Education and/or experience in developing and teaching online courses and degree programs in a university setting
  • Good communication skills
