Job Description:

The UT Southwestern Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking an Instructor level faculty position in the areas of therapeutic devices, cancer immunotherapy, and veterinary medicine for our new companion animal facility. Appointment as an Instructor commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.

Applicants must have a Ph.D.; individuals with expertise in biomedical engineering, immunology, cancer biology, and in vivo animal tumor models are encouraged to apply. Key responsibilities associated with the role; engage in mechanistic and therapeutic explorations spanning both in vitro and in vivo models leveraging a drug-device synergy. Participate in veterinary trials specifically focused on companion animal cancer patients. Develop manuscripts for publication and present findings on international and domestic platforms. Actively contribute to the collective efforts of the research team.

UT Southwestern is a leading institution conducting academic research. With six Nobel Laureates and 25 members of the National Academy of Sciences currently on faculty, UTSW is among the top five biomedical research institutions in the nation. The Department of Radiation Oncology is a leader in the development and clinical implementation of innovative treatment strategies. The department currently has a total of 22 MD and MD/Ph.D. physicians and 14 medical residents. The Division of Medical Physics and Engineering currently has 31 faculty-level physicists, 12 full-time dosimetrists, five research/service engineers and many postdoctoral researchers and graduate students. We currently provide patient care to over 200 patients per day, many treated with state of the art machines and techniques. The clinical practice relocated in 2017 to a new 63,000 square foot building, the largest individual faculty for radiation oncology in North Texas, and we opened a similar-sized expansion in the spring of 2021 which includes the latest linacs (including PET and MRI linac) to do adaptive treatments and planning systems.
