The primary role of faculty is to serve as facilitators of student learning. Faculty enhance the learning process through educational and discipline specific professional development activities. Faculty advance the institution through participation in college, professional, and community activities. The faculty in the Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology will provide instruction to students on DC and AC circuits, instrumentation, motors, digital circuits, programmable logic controls, and other related concepts. Faculty will also maintain assessment standards to align with ABET accreditation requirements. In addition, faculty at Zane State College are required to advise students, participate in the annual budget development, recruit new students, and support retention efforts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities FACILITATOR OF STUDENT LEARNING: The teaching and learning process is a partnership promoting the exchange of knowledge and experience between teacher and student. This process provides meaningful learning experiences enabling learners to develop their ability to solve problems, think critically and creatively, and communicate effectively while developing marketable technical skills. Faculty do this by:
- Providing instruction
- Developing and revising curriculum
- Providing a safe and inviting learning environment
- Providing student evaluation and feedback in a timely manner
- Participating in the assessment of student learning through program assessment
- Maintaining accurate records
- Using appropriate learner-centered instructional methods
- Keeping current with the use of appropriate technology
- Integrating the principles of workplace values in the learning environment
- Maintaining equipment and materials in the learning environment
- Preparing and distributing course syllabi
- Scheduling and maintaining office hours
- Participating in recruitment activities
PROFESSIONAL GROWTH: Faculty enhance meaningful learning experiences by:
- Participating in professional activities
- Collaborating with colleagues
- Exploring innovative teaching, learning, and technology practices, and
- Creating, implementing, and evaluating an annual, individualized plan detailing goals for growth in collaboration with the Division Dean.
Qualifications Faculty must possess a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or industrial technology. Possession of a master's degree in an engineering related field and/or PE registration is preferred. A minimum of 3 years full time related work experience in the field is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in the application of power in an industrial setting OR engineering experience in an electric utility. Absent the master's degree, the faculty member will be required to develop and follow a plan to earn a masters degree. Prior teaching experience, preferably in a two-year college setting, is preferred. Candidates must have clear oral and written communication skills and understand the community college student.
