The English Department at Converse University invites applications for an Instructor of English position. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal. This position offers the opportunity to teach a range of courses in composition and literature, primarily at the introductory and intermediate levels. The course content can be tailored to the instructor's individual experience and expertise in writing and literature. The teaching load is 24 credits per year.Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in English by August 15, 2025. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts setting, as well as a commitment to inclusive excellence, and provide evidence of excellence in teaching and research potential. - Design and teach introductory English composition and literature courses
- Design and teach courses that fulfill general education requirements
- Maintain office hours to support and advise students
- Provide timely and formative feedback on student assignments
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in English
- Experience in teaching college-level English composition and literature courses
- Experience in teaching a range of courses at different levels
- Specializations in Medieval literature, communication and media studies, environmental literature, ethnic literature, disability studies, or early American literature are desirable.
