Job Description:
Overview The Instrument & Electrical Technician is responsible for maintaining existing electrical and control systems by troubleshooting and repairing equipment, performing visual inspections, gathering information related to equipment failure, and removing and installing electrical devices and equipment. Responsibilities Installs electrical circuits and distribution systems inclusive of, but not necessarily limited to motors, motor controllers, motor control centers, transformers, control panels, circuit breakers, disconnects, services, raceways, wiring, instrumentation equipment, and devices utilizing all materials and methods recognized by the National Electrical Code NFPA 70 Troubleshoot, identify root cause, and remedy malfunctions of electrical services, distribution systems, control systems, pumping stations, complex water and wastewater treatment process units, programmable logic controller, SCADA networks, remote terminal units (SCADA), and instrumentation equipment Assist other craft disciplines by performing electrical testing and measurement to diagnose malfunctions in mechanical equipment, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and process units Perform preventative maintenance on electrical services, distribution systems, control systems, pumping stations, complex water and wastewater treatment process units, programmable logic controllers, SCADA networks, remote terminal units (SCADA), and instrumentation equipment Communicate with supervisors, inspection personnel, engineers, and contractors to provide inspection, maintenance, and construction support for all electrical, instrumentation, and SCADA systems Inspect work performed by contractors for conformity to drawings and specifications and applicable National Electric Code articles Prepare comprehensive reports to management Document work performed utilizing Maximo computerized maintenance management software Generate new work orders as required Upon request from a member of operations, maintenance, SCADA, water quality, or management team, extract instrument data from the instrument's internal data storage and present to the requestor in standard format: ACII text file or Microsoft Excel Procure materials and equipment to perform work, utilizing City Purchasing protocol, within the constraints of City policy Maintain adequate parts inventory for Electric Shop and Van Stock Performs other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED Five (5) years of experience from starting Apprentice to one (1) year as a licensed Journeyman Electrician Licenses and Certifications Required State of Texas Journeyman or Master Electrician License TCEQ Water or Wastewater license required within one (1) year of hire A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire Employment Testing Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below: Criminal Background Check: Yes Motor Vehicle Record Check: Yes Drug Screening: Yes Physical Exam: Yes Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications.
