This position will perform scheduled and non-scheduled electrical maintenance and repairs on company equipment in the field, tank farms, pump stations, control center, offices and other company facilities. Position will require a working knowledge of electrical and SCADA equipment and will be subject to call outs for work associated with Plains field operations and/or emergency response.

Job Responsibilities

Ensure Safety of our employees and assets/Training/OQ Qualifications

  • Comprehensive understanding of Plains Safety, Operations, Security & Environmental Policies and Procedures
  • Report Incidents, Accidents, Releases, New Misses & Good Catches in a timely manner utilizing the Maximo Incident Management System
  • Promote and use STOP WORK when warranted.
  • Communicate with the Control Center before/when arriving and after leaving any facility.
  • Treat Internal and External customer requests or inquiries with respect, professionalism and in a timely manner.
  • Utilize existing programs to minimize risk (Maximo IM, FRPP, low volume, dead leg, Station Awareness, RSP, pigging, facility crude movements)
  • During daily operations utilize Station Awareness while on site.
  • Ensure all Maximo/Data Splice Regulatory and Non-Regulatory work orders are completed prior to due dates.
  • Address or report any release, leak or compliance related issue of any size that you find immediately. You see it, you own it.
  • Ensure PHSMA, EPA, State, and Plains compliance on all assets.
  • Continuously strive for no accidents, injuries, or releases in your area of operation. Goal zero.
  • Complete the assigned training via eLearning for mandatory job role training and technician specific training for a Level 1 E&I.
  • Complete all assigned CBT training for OQ related tasks and complete Field evaluations within 12 calendar months of start date.

Maintain equipment to reliably transport crude oil to required destinations minimizing risk, releases, and downtime.

  • Routine and Non-routine maintenance :
    • Under the guidance of an E&I 3 the following is expected:
      • Ability to read and interpret electrical one lines and schematics.
      • Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings.
      • Basic understanding of electrical and instrumentation devices and operations.
      • Develop a understanding of basic hand tools and test equipment specific to the calibration and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems.
      • Assisting the level 2 and level 3 E&I's in routine and non-routine inspections, calibrations, troubleshooting and repairs.

  • Pump/Motor Specific:
    • Under the guidance of an E&I 3 the following is expected:
      • Develop an understanding of different pumps and the operations
      • Develop an understanding of synchronous and non-synchronous motors and operations.
      • Develop an understanding of Low Voltage Motor Control Centers (LVMCC's) and High Voltage Switchgear (HVSWGR) components and operation
      • Assisting the level 2 and level 3 E&I's in routine and non-routine inspections, calibrations, troubleshooting and repairs.

  • PLC, Communications and Networking:
    • Under the guidance of an E&I 3 the following is expected:
      • Develop an understanding of the different iterations of logical controllers (i.e. Control Logix, Compact Logix, Scada Pak, etc.), their applications and operation for gathering and station settings.
      • Develop an understanding of the different iterations of protocol converters (I.e. Red lions, Moxa, Stratix, etc.) their applications and operations for gathering and station settings.
      • Develop an understanding of communications and network equipment (i.e. VSATs, radios, switches, etc.), their applications and operations.
      • Assisting the level 2 and level 3 E&I's in routine and non-routine inspections, calibrations, troubleshooting and repairs.

  • Valves
    • Under the guidance of an E&I 3 the following is expected:
      • Develop an understanding of the different types of valves (i.e. globe, butterfly, gate, v-ball, etc.) and actuators (i.e. modulating, direct drive, dump, etc.), their applications and operation.
      • Assisting the level 2 and level 3 E&I's in routine and non-routine inspections, calibrations, troubleshooting and repairs.

  • Meters and Metering Equipment
    • Under the guidance of an E&I 3 the following is expected:
      • Develop an understanding of the different types of metering equipment (i.e. Coriolis, PD, Turbine, Orifice, etc.), their application and operation.
      • Develop an understanding of ticketing and Over/Short for operational systems and the calculating process.
      • Develop an understanding of the differences in IV, GSV and NSV standards.

Efficiently transport crude.

  • Minimize downtime due to equipment failure via preventative maintenance programs.
  • Work with Supervisor, Controllers, scheduling to maintain tank inventory.

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license with a clean abstract
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks
  • Compliance with the Company's drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A Testing
