The purpose of this job is to clean-out peoples old unsanitary insulation that rodents have infested and replace it with new clean material. A decent amount of the air you breathe comes from your crawlspace and its important for this place to be as clean as possible. Insulation also helps your home conserve energy better by not allowing the heat or cool air to escape so quickly and helps maintain desired temperatures longer and efficiently. We also replace the Vapor Barrier (plastic ground cover) This is to protect your home from the natural moisture level from the ground that comes up. Without the Barrier, the moisture can start to rot structural beams and/or allow mold growth. What we do is important for homes.Our company also provides pest control as its necessary to protect your home from Rodents and maintain the population around the home to avoid reoccurring circumstances. Rodents cause several thousands of dollars worth of damage.There is a lot to consider before jumping into this career field. I'll be blunt and say this is a very tough job as its already tough by you having to crawl around the entire period of the job performing labor. The requirements are typically working in a nasty crawlspace that's full of Rodent feces and smells disgusting. (We do provide full face respirators and full body suits that cover your head and feet and kneepads.)The crawlspace is under the home which is typically a dark and cramped space. While in the crawlspace you will come across live or dead rats or mice. There are usually also tons and tons of Spiders among other insects.On Occasion we do run into Racoons, Possums or Ferrol Cats. If you have phobias of any of these pests or claustrophobia (afraid of dark tight spaces) This is NOT the job for you. These are the everyday conditions of the job. Some crawlspaces are very tight, and you may have to work on your belly the entire time.
