Reporting directly to and under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Insurance Agent's primary purpose is to assist Great Lakes Credit Union Insurance Company to live out our Vision, “To be the members' trusted financial partner.” Responsible for ensuring that outstanding service is delivered to both internal and external members, in alignment with our Standards of Greatness. The Insurance Agent is responsible for both generating and follow up on leads to sell home, life, auto, and other types of insurance. The Insurance Agent assists members in selecting insurance policies that best meets their needs, preferences, and budgets. Their main duties include creating client payment methods, recommending risk management strategies to members, and providing policy proceeds after members' submitted claims are approved. As the Insurance Agent, you will: Provide outstanding member service to both internal and external members. Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities. Ensures confidentiality of member information. Performs functions on agency management system proficiently and assists others as needed. Processes, maintains, and prepares new and renewal accounts for marketing, placement, and delivery to VP/Insurance or clients as directed. Conducts periodic service calls for designated accounts. Performs special projects at the request of designated clients after being approved by manager. Binders and/or policy or endorsement requests are to be completed within three days of date quoted to client. Maintains a concern for timeliness and completeness when interacting with customers, agency and company personnel to minimize potential for errors & omissions claims. Follows up on outstanding claims and helps in their resolution, as necessary. Solicits expiration dates for policies not written by agency. Solicits increases in limits and/or coverage or rounding out accounts through sales to clients at every service contact. Seeks referrals from current client base to solicit for new business prospects; follows up to generate new business using prospect database and automation system. Meets minimum sales expectations for all products and services. All other duties as required. Requirements needed for success in the role: One to three years of similar or related experience A 2- year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program. Spanish speaking, preferred A professional insurance designation, personal property/casualty agent's license and commercial license (when necessary), required.
