Duties and Responsibilities
- Implements and oversees the Multi-Door Program to include assigning cases to Intake Volunteers, providing case recommendations, reviewing all cases referred to other agencies and maintaining program records
- Supervises and evaluates Intake Volunteers by establishing work schedules, reviewing cases, signing stipend vouchers and maintaining activity records
- Conducts intake interviews with clients and processes cases for mediation or referral to other agencies
- Responds to information calls from the general public, provides program information, refers callers to appropriate agencies and maintains records of all calls
- Recruits, screens and trains volunteers to perform intake functions
- Contacts community agencies and organizations to promote Center services, coordinate program utilization and obtain referral information
- Conducts community presentations and program exhibits to promote Center services
- Assists with the Center's Basic Mediation Training, Family Mediation Training, Conflict Management Training, Advanced Mediation Training Workshops and other related activities
- Conducts mediation sessions as required
- Performs related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Social/Behavioral Sciences, Social Work, Public Administration or a closely related field with two (2) years mediation, conflict resolution, legal, or social service experience
- Good knowledge of the justice system and social services delivery network; general knowledge of mediation
- Skill to communicate effectively with clients who may be hostile or irrational; skill to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to supervise, train and evaluate volunteers; ability to compile data; ability to operate personal computer and basic office equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees and the general public
- Must be Bilingual in Spanish
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Required to work rotating shifts and irregular hours including scheduled evenings and weekends
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment
- Physical requirements include lifting/carrying 35 lbs. occasionally; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, handling and walking to perform the essential functions
