Position Summary
Responsible for answering incoming phone calls which include the ordering of exams, obtaining all pertinent information including demographics, insurance information ordering physician, faxing of reports, requests for addendums and redirecting calls to the appropriate parties when necessary, as well as dispatching techs to facilities as orders come in. Acts as a liaison between techs and facilities. Effectively dispatches techs by performing the following duties.
Job Functions
To process requests for services that come in via fax, phone, or on-line orders, dispatch techs, and insure studies are read, transcribed, and delivered to client in timely fashion. Works as liaison between client and technologist and communicates with Radiologist when required to insure reports are complete and accurate.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Answer incoming calls from facilities and physician's offices
* Enter phone and fax orders into PACS.
* Dispatch X-Ray techs
* Dispatch Ultrasound techs (via outsource contractor)
* Fax reports as requested by facility
* Administer Holter monitor program
* Call facilities to verify all Positive Reports are received.
* Make and send CD's to facilities/Dr. Offices as needed and when techs are unable to deliver
* Assist in day-to-day administration of department needs (such as monitoring supplies and maintaining and distributing updates to facility information and phone number lists
* Review the PACS system regularly during each shift to ensure:
* All areas are running smoothly
* Orders are dispatched in a timely fashion
* All techs are assigned and consistent with any special credentialing or insurance requirements of a facility.
* Nothing is left on a tech's assigned list at the end of their shift
* Reports are being read in a timely fashion
* Auto-faxing is operating smoothly, and
* All images are reaching the contract radiologist on a timely basis
* Assist management as needed.
Education
* Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent; two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
