APR Consulting, Inc. has been engaged to identify an Intake Referral Coordinator Location: Seattle, WA 98122 Position: Intake Referral Coordinator Pay Rate: $23.92/hr Duration: 26 weeks Expected Shift: 8am-4:30pm, 40hrs/week JOB SUMMARY 3 Years of experience Intake Coordinator Requirement : EPIC experience / being an Intake Referral Coordinator. Insurance process verification Scheduler/familiar with clinic intake operations. Intake Referral Experience in an Oncology Outpatient Setting. Oncology Experience. It will be difficult for someone to step into this role if there is no Oncology Experience. REQUIREMENTS 1. Oncology experience - MUST 2. EPIC experience- MUST 3. Worked in an ambulatory setting/outpatient - knows how to check chart/medical records (critical thinking)/ JOB DUTIES
- Schedules appointments as directed. Makes schedule adjustments as necessitated by the patient's condition.
- Coordinates clinic schedule to determine availability for appointments.
- Uses SMC and SCI computer systems efficiently and effectively. Able to learn new computer applications as they evolve.
- Coordinates with other departments involved in patient appointments and care, such as transportation and interpreter services.
- Contacts patients regarding appointments or changes in appointments, as needed. May perform discharge follow-up phone calls, as necessary.
- Schedules inpatient admissions when requested.
- Acts as a courier between various departments for delivery and pick-up of confidential patient material.
- Completes initial prospectus on newly referred patients and distributes to the appropriate individuals. Obtains pertinent records/films in preparation for first visit.
- Acquires outside records to submit for review.
- Registers and consents patients, ensuring the completion of required forms, if necessary, at clinic site. Scans registration materials at patient check in. Collects insurance co-pays as required by clinic site.
- Requests patient records as needed and scans them into the electronic medical record in a timely manner.
- Supports office flow by distributing clinic mail and faxes to appropriate individuals and maintaining inventory of office and other supplies. Provides maintenance of office equipment.
- Documents complete and accurate information in the electronic medical record when appropriate. Scans patient medical records into electronic medical records.
- Answers multiple practice phone lines and triages calls demonstrating, a) decision-making ability regarding appropriate routing of calls, b) ability to manage other multiple interruptions, and c) ability to maintain a helpful and responsive demeanor.
- Uses paging systems effectively: initiates pages for staff and notifies appropriate staff when page/call is returned.
- Accurately communicates pertinent patient information assuring safe patient care outcomes to appropriate caregiver.
- Acts as a patient advocate in appropriate clinic functions.
- Assists in problem solving around patient flow issues (e.g. wait time concerns).
- Identifies special needs of patients (e.g. need for interpreter, too ill to wait at front desk) and communicates appropriately to unit staff.
- Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of the New Patient process at the SCI. Exhibits exceptional compassion and sensitivity unique to the oncology patient and the Oncology experience. Provides patients and family with information on oncology support services offered at the SCI.
- Verifies patient insurance coverage utilizing computer applications and documenting in electronic medical record. Obtains referrals/authorizations for services per insurance requirements.
- Assists in resolving billing issues for patients and/or directs patients to the appropriate personnel. Reconciles charge tickets against the current schedule on a daily basis as determined by clinic administrator.
- Functions as an essential member of the Medical Oncology/Radiation Oncology Team.
- Accepts responsibility for all aspects of the position. Establishes and adjusts priorities based on patient acuity and changing clinical situations.
- Provides backup to other clinic or reception staff if necessary or if requested.
- Organizes work to perform multiple functions concurrently, demonstrating ability to respond appropriately to multiple requests from staff, patients, physicians, etc.
- Recognizes and responds to patient, facility, and environmental emergencies. Acts as a resource during emergencies.
- Demonstrates support for the Cancer Institute goals and programs.
- Participates in other duties as requested by Manager, supervisors or charges, and remains flexible at all
