Position SummaryThe Intake Specialist is a key point of contact for patients and plays a vital role in the intake and patient registration process. The Intake Specialist is highly organized, skilled in data entry, customer service, and communication, with a commitment to providing efficient and effective support throughout the client's intake journey.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Lives out the INcompass Healthcare promise by consistently displaying compassion, treating all with dignity, and providing exceptional care for everyone. Incorporates the six principles of trauma informed care throughout all aspects of their work. Responsible for processing and addressing all incoming inquiries, referrals, and initial requests for information, such as answering incoming calls, managing incoming referrals, and walk-ins from clients. Responsible for ensuring consent forms and intake documentation is complete. Responsible for obtaining an understanding of client's presenting problem as well as referral source's requests. Responsible for understanding the client's need and ensuring that additional service, including identifying emergent needs and immediately connecting the client with crisis services. Connecting clients with needed support, services, and resources. Collaborates with all internal and external contacts to promote effective customer service at all times. Maintains contact with referral sources and other organizations as required. Responsible for working as a team player on the access team by assisting with access and registration tasks to ensure exceptional care for all clients. Participates in all required training and meetings as appropriate and assigned.Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalency with one year of experience providing customer experience. Preferred two years of experience working in a behavioral health setting or similar position. Excellent organization and communication skills. Knowledge of and experience with risk assessments. Demonstrates skill and sensitivity to cultural differences. Ability to work as a team player in a shared space with other access team members.
