WellStone is North Alabama's most comprehensive behavioral healthcare provider serving over 13,000 persons a year throughout Northern Alabama, with offices in Huntsville and Cullman. We are a non-profit community organization that offers a wide range of services for every phase of life, from children to older adultsThe Intake Specialist plays an intricate part in the success of our clients in need of support services. They will assess needs and behaviors, complete a psychological assessment, complete the initial treatment plan, and make referrals to the appropriate level of service. This position is Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.What We're Looking For:
  • Clinical Licensure (LPC, LICSW or LMFT)
  • Master's Degree in counseling, psychology or a related field
  • Experience preferred working with seriously mentally ill
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Proficient in typing, computer use, and email
  • Good organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • DSM Knowledge; Ability to type
  • Knowledge of community agencies
  • Full time Monday through Friday (8:00AM-5:00PM)
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Conduct comprehensive individual assessments on new or returningclients
  • Conduct individual, family and group therapy sessions
  • Assess client's risk of suicidal/homicidal ideations
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information, treatment and records
  • Perform timely documentation of the assessment in EMR
  • Develop a treatment plan based on clinical experience and knowledge in partnership with the client
  • Present cases to psychiatrists regarding client's medication and/or need
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed and/or required
  • Collaborate with internal staff regarding client's progress such as Case Managers, Medical Staff, etc.
  • Act as a client advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations
  • When necessary, referral to internal or external specialists or community resources to assist the client in treatment options
  • When applicable, assist family members in understanding, dealing with or supporting clients
  • Participate in various meetings to include departmental, divisional or other meetings as required
  • Maintain current on new developments in counseling
  • Complete billing documentation in a timely and accurate manner
  • Conduct follow up with clients, internal and/or external individuals
  • Maintain Licensure
  • Facilitate therapy as a primary intervention
  • Provide crisis intervention as necessary
  • Maintain knowledge of community resources
  • Effectively communicate with treatment team
  • Maintain up-to-date records Avatar
