Job Description:

+ Summary of Position:

The Intake Counselor assists the Program Director in the development and maintenance of appropriate substance abuse treatment services. The Intake Counselor oversees clinical aspects of treatment admissions, assessments, transfers, referrals, and the completion of an appropriate treatment program. Also, ensures that client admissions comply with the specific standards of contracting agencies and the requirements of governmental regulatory bodies. Schedule options are Monday- Friday (Early & Evening Shifts); Tuesday-Saturday (Early & Evening Shifts).

Job Specific Criteria:

1. Monitors the assessment and intake process to ensure that appropriate level of care determinations are being made, that applicants are being properly engaged, and that admissions and referrals are being implemented in a manner consistent with regulatory and clinical standards of care.

2. Schedules a minimum of 21 intake hours per week.

3. Oversees the development and implementation of designated client services under his/her purview.

4. Ensures compliance with all contractual obligations as well as relevant licensing and regulatory requirements.

5. Provides direct clinical services (assessment, individual, group, family counseling, crisis intervention, toxicology testing), as needed.

6. Maintains compliance with Agency Standards of access to care and provides expedited intake services, where indicated.

7. Ensures staff is properly trained and motivated; identifies staff training needs and schedules training as appropriate.

8. Keeps abreast of progress of designated clients, monitors treatment plans and progress.

9. Maintains appropriate contact with referral and regulatory agencies to report on client progress and matters of compliance and to ensure a continuing flow of referrals.

10. Coordinates with outside agencies to provide for client welfare in such matters as medical care, psychiatric needs or vocational referrals.

11. Maintains relationship with appropriate outside agencies to stay informed of advances in client treatment, changes in the field and to represent Outreach to these agencies.

12. Prepares or oversees the preparation of appropriate internal and external reports.

13. Exercise due diligence in the delivery of quality care in line with agency Medicaid Compliance Plan and systems of accountability.

14. Insure communication through the compliance officer and/or the supervisory structure of any violation of non-compliance with the agency's Medicaid compliance plan and personnel policy and procedure.

+ Maintaining appropriate boundaries, ethics and professionalism; complying with agency, OASAS and other professional code(s) of ethics; seeking supervision when challenges arise.

Qualifications: Experience doing Assessments in 822 clinic

Certificates & Licenses: QHP - LMSW/LCSW, LMHC, CASAC
