The company is headquartered in Houston, Texas.We are looking for highly-motivated individuals who enjoy working as part of a team in a dynamic and entrepreneurial work environment.The Integrity Engineer I at Plains helps develop, implement, administer, and continuously improve multiple tools, processes, and programs related to pipeline and facility integrity, safety, and regulatory compliance. The Asset Integrity group works collaboratively across multiple organizations and assets located throughout the United States. This group also serves as the primary interface for regulatory agencies and industry groups including but not limited to: DOT/PHMSA - Office of Pipeline Safety, Texas Railroad Commission, American Petroleum Institute, Association of Oil Pipe Lines, and Pipeline Research Council International.The selected candidate will be eligible for company benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, and Paid Time Off (PTO). Additionally, this position comes with the option of a hybrid work schedule, combining working in our Houston office with working remotely. Parking is provided in our downtown Houston #Plains office. Job Responsibilities:
  • Integrity Management Plan:
    • Plans and executes all requirements of Plains' Integrity Management Plan
    • Acts as Integrity point of contact to a specific Plains Operation Division
    • Participates in IMP external audits
  • Conducts needs analysis:
    • Understands ipeline regulations, industry standards, integrity assessment methods, repair methods, etc.
    • Participates in execution of advanced analysis
    • Follows procedures to conduct advanced activities including: High Consequence Area Analysis (HCA), Pressure Cycling/Fatigue Analysis, Fitness for Service Analyses, EFRD Analysis, etc.
    • Uses a systematic approach to develop short and long range plans for accomplishing goals
  • Conducts Assessments, evaluations, and tracks metrics:
    • Communicate with business partner to understand needs, assesses requirements
    • Provides Engineering support for Pipeline Integrity Projects including welding calculations, material selections, determination of required hydrostatic test pressures, MOP/MAOP calculations, and evaluation of defects and recommending appropriate repairs based on analysis of In-Line Inspection results.
    • Identifies relevant integrity threats for pipelines and determines preventive and mitigative (P&M) measures, which include the re-assessment interval and re-assessment methods
    • Provides engineering support for Integrity projects including, determination of required hydrostatic test pressures, MOP calculations, and evaluation of defects and recommending appropriate repairs based on analysis of integrity inspection results
    • Reviews NDT data for quality assurance
    • Reviews and analyzes inline inspection results to develop dig lists and repair plans
    • Solves moderately complex problems
      • Takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions
    • Gathers and integrates necessary information to make definitive decisions with tight timeframes
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred; and a minimum of 1 years of related experience in the following areas strongly preferred:
    • Interpretation of DOT/PHMSA regulations and standards.
    • Inline Inspection, dig selection and threat assessment
    • Inspection/testing, maintenance of pipeline(s)
    • Pipeline design/installation/fabrication
    • Knowledge of pipeline facilities and API 653 Tanks
    • API 653 Certification
  • Solid understanding of Facility Equipment reliability, Risk Based asset integrity management and associated regulatory expectations
  • Qualified to complete advanced activities, such as pressure cycling analysis, Integrity Management Plan (IMP) external audits, failure analysis, incident investigation, fitness for service evaluation, and corrosion evaluation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong team player. Advises team on effective techniques for handling concerns, objections, and potentially sensitive situations
  • Self-starter with strong organization skills. Must be able to set realistic goals and complete commitments on schedule
  • Cleared criminal history (background) check and satisfactory reference checks
  • Compliance with the company's Drug & Alcohol Policy including pre-employment testing
  • Willingness to travel to field locations (+/- 10%)
