Summary The National Science Foundation is seeking qualified candidates for an Interdisciplinary (Program Director) position for the Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) within the Office of the Director (OD), Office of Integrative Activities (OIA) in Alexandria, VA. Responsibilities The Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) within the Office of Integrative Activities (OIA) pursues a mission to enhance the research competitiveness of targeted jurisdictions (state, territory or commonwealth) by strengthening science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) capacity and capability through a diverse portfolio of investments from talent development to local infrastructure. The EPSCoR program envisions its jurisdictions as recognized contributors to the national and global STEM research enterprise. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Establishing goals and objectives, initiating new program thrusts, and revising current activities. Advising and assisting in the development of short- and long-range plans, as well as establishing goals and objectives for support of research, training, and education programs. Providing information on new developments and opportunities in STEM. Maintaining and further strengthening linkages with collaborative programs at NSF and other relevant Federal agencies. Participating in technical management and financial oversight of various funded NSF EPSCoR projects. Managing an effective and timely merit review process. Representing the NSF EPSCoR program at relevant internal and external events. Keeping abreast of current research and educational trends. Participating in some defined subset of professional activities that contribute to such currency (e.g., conducting research, delivering presentations and publishing quality scholarship, attending technical conferences of relevance, reading scientific articles and books and engaging in other forms of ongoing professional development). Working cooperatively across Divisions, Directorates, and the Foundation, and with other agencies to accomplish the mission of NSF. Qualifications Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a STEM or STEM education field plus after award of the Ph.D., six or more years of successful research, research administration, and/or managerial experience pertinent to the position. If your degree was obtained from a foreign institution, please also submit the certification from the Association for International Credential Evaluation Professionals, or certification equivalency. Additional Information Relocation expenses MAY be paid contingent upon the availability of funds. It is NSF policy that NSF personnel employed at or IPAs detailed to NSF are not permitted to participate in foreign government talent recruitment programs. Failure to comply with this NSF policy could result in disciplinary action up to & including removal from Federal Service or termination of an IPA assignment & referral to the Office of Inspector General.
