Position Summary:
The Interim Director of Development within the Campbell University School of Law is a temporary half time position that will expire at the end of the law school fiscal year on May 31,2025. The position is necessitated by the promotion of the law school's Director of Development to the position of Interim Vice-President for Institutional Advancement. The Interim Director will be responsible for executing a broad-based development strategy to secure financial support from alumni and friends of the law school, corporations, foundations, and other possible sources. This individual will work closely with the Law School Dean and representatives from the Dean's Office, as well as members of the Advancement, Alumni Engagement, Career Services, Marketing and Communications, and Admissions Departments. S/he will also be responsible for the coordination of volunteer efforts, including serving as a key staff liaison to the law school's Board of Visitors. The Director will have almost daily interaction with faculty, alumni, parents, students, friends of the university, members of various law school advisory boards and committees, external vendors, and media contacts. This position requires an individual who is articulate, relates well with others at all levels of an organization, and is an effective decision maker.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director of Development is primarily responsible for securing financial support from a variety of sources, such as: Alumni, Major Gifts, Planned Gifts, Grants, Special Events and Annual funds program.
* Lead fundraising by personally cultivating and soliciting portfolio of major donor and top prospects and has a proven track record of success at securing gifts
* Utilize the law school Dean, key alumni, faculty, and friends to develop and secure funding from major donors
* Support Alumni Association led fundraising goals and activities
* Work closely with Assistant Dean for External Relations to execute a comprehensive annual fund program among alumni and friends of the law school
* Grow online giving through strong e-marketing platform
* Pursue foundation, government, and corporate grants for scholarships, capital and special project funding.
* Identify and cultivate opportunities for planned gifts from key alumni, faculty, and friends
* Work closely with Assistant Dean of External Relations to execute a comprehensive alumni relations program among alumni, to include the planning and execution of special events in North Carolina and beyond, and attendance at alumni association events and related programs
* Lead and execute special events for alumni and friends of the law school that increase standing in the Triangle market and the North Carolina legal, business, nonprofit, and other communities
* Create and coordinate fundraising and sponsorship efforts of key programming activities developed by student groups, Career Services, Alumni Association and law school committees
* Serve as lead contact for management and programming in areas of advancement
* Participate in strategic planning process and meet (or exceed) all annual strategic goals
* Participate on boards and committees when appropriate
* Prepare reports as required by the law school Dean, Campbell University administration, and others.
* Participate on the law school's senior administrative staff
* Responsible for organizing, coordinating, and helping to facilitate the bi-annual law school Board of Visitors meetings
* Participate as a law school liaison in monthly University development meetings on main campus

Education/Experience:
* Minimum bachelor's degree required; Law or other advanced degree is desirable
* Experience as a senior level leader with demonstrated success in managing fund raising, major giving, marketing, communications, PR, and events in higher education or non-profit environment
