Session: Summer (May - August) Position Title: Intern - Habitat Hiring Manager: Ryan Park Agency: Department of Game, Fish and Parks Location: Mitchell Minimum Salary: $18.60*APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER.Position Description: This intern position will work along side Conservation Technicians, Foremen, and Resource Biologists. The individual in this position will learn and be engaged in projects to develop, maintain, and improve wildlife habitat including a public use aspect. Opportunities to job shadow and work one on one with biologist will exist. This intern will learn different grassland management techniques, how to identify important native plant species as well as noxious weeds, the tree planting process, various wildlife food plot types, grassland reconstruction techniques, and numerous other land management information. Throughout the summer this intern will collect information in a work portfolio as well as develop their own habitat management plan for a Game Production Area.Prior to completing employment an open group discussion or presentation of their management plan will be requested. Qualifications: Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
