Setting and ReportingThis internship position is located in the English Verbatim Reporting Section, Meetings and Publishing Division, Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM) in New York. The internship is for two (2) months, with a possibility of extension, subject to the needs of the Department. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (40hours) under the supervision of the Chief of the Verbatim Reporting Section/Service or the internship supervisor, as appropriate. Candidates are encouraged to highlight their specific skills and/or experience in their application. This internship may be discharged in person or remotely.ResponsibilitiesInterns will be responsible for the following duties: (a) translating into English, which must be the candidate's main language, verbatim records of meetings from any of the official languages, for training and other purposes and subject to review; (b) transcribing or reviewing transcriptions; (c) assist with testing of technologies, including speech-to-text; (d) performing other related duties as required.CompetenciesProfessionalism: Shows pride in work and in achievements. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.LanguageFor the internship advertised, fluency in English, which must be the candidate's main language, and knowledge of another official language, are required. Knowledge of a third official language would be an asset. The official languages of the United Nations are: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.Qualifications/special skillsNo working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
