Exciting opportunity to be part of the Labcorp 2025 Global Internship Program as a Medical Diagnostic Lab Assistant Intern in South Bend, Indiana!

As a Medical Diagnostic Lab Assistant Intern, you will have the opportunity to support meaningful assignments that compliment an education in Science and are inspiring and valuable in our mission to improve health and improve lives across the globe. In this lab, interns work in a fast paced, production type environment and will be responsible for performing various non-technical and/or lab assistant tasks within the different departments/areas of the laboratory.

About the Team:

The highly skilled clinical lab team in South Bend provides a range of services for hospital-based clients including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, microbiology, and molecular testing in a fast paced environment.

Internship Assignment Summary:

  • Assist the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases through troubleshooting specimen related problems, dispatching couriers, receiving patient specimens, and processing microbiology cultures
  • Build skills and knowledge in all areas of the clinical laboratory to gain a better understanding of functions
  • Perform lab assistant and specimen processing dutiesEngage in professional development working with the EHS and Quality committees
  • Gain insight into regulatory and accreditation requirements that govern clinical laboratories

Education/Qualifications/Skills:

  • Working towards bachelor's degree in microbiology, chemistry, biochemistry, biology or Medical Laboratory Science (Preferred), or other bioscience related majors
  • Preferred December 2025 or May 2026 graduates
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast paced high-volume environment and while prioritizing and manage multiple tasks
  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills; experience with Microsoft Office applications preferred
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Career goals that align with working in a medical diagnostic or anatomical pathology lab as a technologist
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Comfortability with handling biological specimens, such as blood, tissue, cells, stool, or urine
  • Ability to communicate, think creatively, and embrace an ever-evolving career field
  • Embraces diverse ways of thinking through various forms collaboration and partnership

Work Schedule: Second Shift Position with the following work schedule:

Monday through Friday – 2:00pm - 10:30pm

Pay Range: $17.00-$21.00/hr
