Dean, Social Sciences Recruitment Type: Internal Requisition ID: req4463 Employment Type: Student Union Position: Non-Union Work Schedule: M-W-W 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.Number of Openings: 0 Job Description: SUMMARYInterns will work with their supervisors and othermembers of the Institute and Student Affairs personnel to conduct peer-to-peeroutreach. They will staff tables at student events, serve as speakers instudent club meetings, and work to extend the reach of the Needs Met? marketing campaign. By working closely with social workers, campus-based foodpantries, and the Student Life offices to promote these services, the internswill have the opportunity to increase their skills in communication, teamwork,and leadership.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Preparing displays and materials for use at outreach events
  • Staffing information tables at student or community events and interacting with attendees to these events to extend the reach of the program
  • Assisting with student focus groups and surveys, and speaking/presenting to student clubs
  • Interviewing students about their experiences with college support services to ensure alignment of services to meet the student's needs
  • Develop competencies in communication, equity and inclusion and teamwork
  • Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
  • Current student attending Tri-C

  • Ability and willingness to communicate and interact with peers about the Needs Met? campaign
  • Interest in social science research and/or data collection and analysis
  • Ability to speak in public and present to an audience
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations

  • The work is performed in a normal, professional environment;

While at events, there will be walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;
  • Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite
