Job Description:
SUMMARY
Interns will work with their supervisors and other members of the Institute and Student Affairs personnel to conduct peer-to-peer outreach. They will staff tables at student events, serve as speakers in student club meetings, and work to extend the reach of the Needs Met? marketing campaign. By working closely with social workers, campus-based food pantries, and the Student Life offices to promote these services, the interns will have the opportunity to increase their skills in communication, teamwork, and leadership.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Preparing displays and materials for use at outreach events
* Staffing information tables at student or community events and interacting with attendees to these events to extend the reach of the program
* Assisting with student focus groups and surveys, and speaking/presenting to student clubs
* Interviewing students about their experiences with college support services to ensure alignment of services to meet the student's needs
* Develop competencies in communication, equity and inclusion and teamwork
* Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
* Current student attending Tri-C
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
* Ability and willingness to communicate and interact with peers about the Needs Met? campaign
* Interest in social science research and/or data collection and analysis
* Ability to speak in public and present to an audience
* Ability to maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations
* Possess sensitivity to appropriately understand and respond to the needs of a diverse population
