At Ovintiv, our products fuel the world through safe, affordable, and reliable energy. We are proud of our purpose, and attracting the right people is the key to its success. As an employer, we recognize your potential and professional aspirations, and are committed to your career development. We offer employees an inclusive work environment with highly competitive compensation and flexibility. Ovintiv's workplace culture is built upon our foundational values of One, Agile, Driven and Innovative, and we are relentlessly committed to safe and sustainable operations. We value the opportunity to engage and collaborate in person, believing this is best cultivated through our in-office environment. We drive societal progress by valuing our workforce, strengthening the communities we call home and respecting the rights of all. Join our team as we make modern life possible. Posting Close Date: 10/14/2024 THE OPPORTUNITY Ovintiv's program is a comprehensive summer internship designed to provide a solid foundation of knowledge and experiential training while giving students the opportunity to apply what they are learning in school in a real-world setting. As an intern you will spend the summer working closely with an experienced mentor and be assigned a project and various other responsibilities intended to provide you with learning opportunities while delivering meaningful contributions to Ovintiv. Ovintiv is dedicated to ensuring the safety and health of our workforce and the communities in which we operate, and we are committed to environmental responsibility in all of our endeavors. Interns in our EH&S group will have a role in helping to ensure that we meet these critical commitments, while learning at the same time. To ensure interns are given relevant, value-added and meaningful assignments, we do not create specific work projects until April. Some examples of future projects could include:
  • Provide emergency and incident response services as needed, gathering evidence to organize an initial incident summary. Collaborate with Service Provider leadership to ensure an incident investigation is being performed by the correct parties, resulting in a root cause analysis that identifies practicable corrective actions. Participate in Ovintiv root cause analysis processes such as TapRoot.
  • Conduct field inspections and operations analyses, including Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews (PSSR's), Process Hazard Analyses (PHA's) and Hazard and Operability studies (HAZOP).
  • Conducting risk assessments and identify appropriate levels of risk controls in support of operational activities. This includes field spot checks and effective collaboration with operational teams.
HOW DO I QUALIFY?
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student through December 2025.
  • Must be available May 19 - August 8, 2025.
  • Must reside or willing to reside in Oklahoma.
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental health, fire protection, or a closely related science or engineering program.
