Overview The Traffic Intern works alongside the Design Engineer and under the direction of a Project Manager and is responsible for day-to-day project work producing technical deliverables for traffic and transportation engineering projects. Responsibilities
- Establish and monitor adherence to project schedule and budget.
- Provide all necessary coordination and follow-up on the work to ensure quality standards are met, efficiency levels are maintained and client satisfaction, respect and confidence are assured.
- Assist in the development of traffic control device design plans, including traffic signal, signing, pavement marking, lighting and ITS plans.
- Create clear, concise technical reports and high quality drawings, primarily using AutoCAD.
- Perform field duties outside of the office in support of projects, including traffic data collection and field verifications of existing and proposed traffic control device installations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Working toward a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Emphasis in Traffic Engineering, Planning, and Highway Design courses are a plus.
- 0-2 years' experience in in traffic/transportation engineering.
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) preferred.
- Technical knowledge in traffic engineering with proven experience in preparing technical reports, designs, specifications, and computations.
- Traffic Signal design and signal timing experience.
- Working knowledge of relevant software packages including, Synchro, HCS, Microstation, Corsim, VISSIM is a plus.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Software including Word, Excel, Outlook and Project.
- Familiar with AutoCAD.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Independent and critical thinking abilities.
- Self-starter who can work independently and with team members.
