PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Develops, schedules, and directs or performs audits of various GROWMARK and subsidiary operations and processes based on an annual risk assessment and associated annual audit plan approved by the Audit/Compliance Committee of GROWMARK's Board of Directors.

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

Supervises, leads, and develops the Lead and Senior Internal Auditors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs an annual risk assessment of the accounting and operational processes of GROWMARK wholesale and retail divisions, subsidiaries, and facilities.

Develops the annual audit plan from the risk assessment and directs or performs audits during the year.

Reports audit results to operating divisions, Finance Division management and the Audit/Compliance Committee.

Audits include the following activities:

* Develops audit scope and objectives, and audit programs.

* Develops, assigns or performs audit procedures.

* Revises audit procedures based on results identified during audits.

* Determines and recommends any necessary improvements in internal controls or processes.

* Reviews audit work performed by Internal Audit department auditors.

* Conducts opening and closing meetings with management to discuss audit scope, procedures, results and recommendations for improvement.

* Prepares final audit reports for submission to management, external auditors, and the Audit/Compliance Committee.

* Follows up on recommendation implementation where warranted.

Assists the Controller in leading and coordinating the annual financial statement audit of GROWMARK, subsidiaries, retail divisions, and employee benefit plans by external auditors.

Determines the schedule and content of committee meetings in conjunction with the Chairperson of the Audit/Compliance Committee. Serves as the recording secretary of the Audit/Compliance Committee.

Reviews all publications of the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the Auditing Standards Board; analyzes them for applicability to the GROWMARK System.

In conjunction with the CFO, determines retention requirements of financial records as requested.

Maintains and circulates a current and comprehensive schedule of record retention guidelines.

Prepares and administers annual budgets for the department. Determines staffing needs and coordinates the engagement of outside assistance if warranted.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

As requested, participates in compliance investigations to identify and document Code of Conduct violations and analyzes internal control failures.

Responsible for encouraging, supporting, and promoting innovative practices, ideas, and technologies within the team.

Follows GROWMARK's Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires a college degree in accounting, finance or equivalent and at least 10 years of related experience to demonstrate the ability to provide auditing leadership to the GROWMARK System.

Normally requires an advanced degree and certification (MBA, CPA, CMA, CIA or CISA) to demonstrate advanced accounting/auditing knowledge.

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Must have the ability to travel independently and overnight as necessary. A passport is required as some travel to Canada may be required.

Ability to maintain independence and complete confidentiality.

Occasionally required to climb ladders and work outside of an office environment to complete audit procedures including inventory observations.

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK's policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
