Responsible for developing and executing the communication strategy for executive and senior leadership-level internal communications across Woodard & Curran. This role supports the communication activities of the Executive and Senior Leadership Team by composing and reviewing corporate and employee communications, developing communication plans for Strategic Business Unit (SBU) and initiative roll-outs, and coordinating internal communication campaigns and activities. This key position is essential for building employee awareness, knowledge, and engagement through thoughtful and professional communications. The role reports to the Director of Marketing and works closely with the Information Systems and Human Resources Leadership.

Travel: up to 10%

Candidate Location: Portland, ME / St. Charles, MO

Hybrid Schedule: To start 2 - 3 days a week

What You Will Be Doing :

  • Develop and lead the internal communications strategy to effectively influence, inform, and inspire internal audiences about organizational initiatives and transitions.
  • Plan, write, and edit content on behalf of leadership for various internal communications vehicles, including but not limited to email, video, newsletters, and state of the company addresses.
  • Analyze the internal communication program and provide strategy and input based on industry best practices and tools suitable for a growing, multi-SBU organization.
  • Compose and refine internal employee communications from the CEO and other Senior Leadership Team members.
  • Develop communication plans, campaigns, presentations, e-newsletters, and videos in support of organizational strategy.
  • Collaborate with leaders to develop and execute the corporate communications calendar to support organizational initiatives and transition rollouts.
  • Lead the development of internal content to drive organizational change as needed; advise and support change management initiatives and communications.
  • Ensure a consistent look, feel, and tone across communications in alignment with Woodard & Curran's brand.
  • Attend key stakeholder meetings regularly to relay key points through relevant and timely communications.
  • Continually evaluate leadership communication channels and identify new and impactful ways to communicate leadership messages (e.g., annual State of the Company address, quarterly Operations Management Team meetings, online tools, newsletters, etc.).
  • Coordinate the internal communications response to critical situations related to organizational operations, environmental impact, and client relations as needed.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

  • 8+ years of related experience in corporate communications, including developing executive-level and company-wide internal communication strategies.
  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field is highly desired, though equivalent work experience is considered.
  • Experience preparing and managing communication plans and strategies for executive-level communications is required.
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of change management principles and has experience leading change efforts for company-wide initiatives.
  • Experience in architecture, engineering, construction, or other professional services is preferable.
  • Excellent written (including writing, proofreading, and editing) and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely and simplify complex information for broad understanding.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and experience with multi-media platforms is required.
  • Keen judgment and interpersonal skills to handle highly confidential information.
  • Strong project leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact personably and diplomatically with staff at all levels, including company executives and highly technical subject matter experts.
  • Experience delivering internal communications to a geographically dispersed workforce.

$90,000 - $115,000 a year

This role has the option for hybrid work, and the anticipated pay range is flexible, depending on factors such as the employee's primary work location, skills, experience, and education. The following examples illustrate how the pay range for the same role can vary based on different locations.

Portland, ME: $90,000 - $110,000

St. Charles, MO: $95,000 - $115,000

This position's anticipated pay range is provided above; the final exempt salary or non-exempt hourly pay will depend on experience level and consider a percentage-based geographic differential based on where the final candidate will be working. Geographic differentials recognize and reflect the cost of labor differences between geographic markets.
