Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced International Logistics & Procurement Manager to join our growing construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the logistics and purchasing activities related to the international movement of materials and equipment for large-scale construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in both international logistics and procurement, with a strong understanding of customs regulations, shipping processes, and supply chain management.

Key Responsibilities:

International Logistics Management:

  • Plan, organize, and oversee the international shipment and transportation of construction materials and heavy equipment.
  • Ensure that all international shipments comply with import/export regulations, customs requirements, and trade laws.
  • Negotiate with international freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs brokers to secure competitive rates and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Coordinate logistics for shipments via sea, air, and land to optimize cost and efficiency.
  • Track and monitor shipments, resolving any transportation issues or delays.
  • Collaborate with vendors, customs agents, and government officials to ensure smooth customs clearance and mitigate any potential disruptions.

Purchasing & Procurement:

  • Manage the procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies for international construction projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing decisions.
  • Source and select suppliers and vendors from international markets while considering pricing, quality, and lead times.
  • Negotiate purchase orders, contracts, and terms with international suppliers, ensuring compliance with company policies and project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchasing transactions and manage supplier relationships to foster long-term business partnerships.

Supply Chain Coordination:

  • Work closely with internal teams such as project managers, site supervisors, and finance to ensure that project requirements are met.
  • Coordinate with local and international suppliers to ensure materials arrive on schedule and in good condition.
  • Track inventory levels and collaborate with the team to forecast needs for ongoing and upcoming projects.

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure that all required documentation, including customs declarations, bills of lading, and invoices, are accurate and filed properly.
  • Stay updated on global trade regulations, tariffs, and shipping best practices to ensure the company remains compliant with all international trade laws.
  • Monitor and manage any risks related to logistics, including shipping delays, cost overruns, and regulatory changes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in international logistics and purchasing, preferably within the construction or industrial sector.
  • Strong knowledge of international shipping methods, customs procedures, and global supply chains.
  • Proven experience negotiating with international suppliers, logistics providers, and freight companies.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, procurement software, and logistics management tools.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with international suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of international trade laws, tariffs, and risk management practices.
  • Experience with large-scale construction projects, including procurement of construction materials, machinery, and equipment.

Preferred:

  • Additional language skills are a plus.
