19th August, 2024Our client, a global leader in engineering custom-manufactured equipment for the Aerospace & Automotive industries, is seeking an experienced International Shipping & Logistics Specialist to join their team in Southampton, PA! In this role, you will manage the paperwork for all domestic and international import/export shipments, including those classified under ITAR or EAR, ensuring all regulatory and compliance requirements are met. You will also collaborate closely with ocean, air, and ground carriers to provide quotes, submit shipping instructions, and handle all necessary documentation according to international customs requirements. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in freight forwarding for ocean international shipments, with a strong understanding of import/export laws and documentation across multiple countries. This role is paperwork- and compliance-intensive, requiring someone who is confident in managing these responsibilities with precision. Key Responsibilities
  • Process paperwork for domestic and international import/export shipments, ensuring compliance with ITAR, EAR, and other regulations.
  • Work with ocean carriers to provide quotes, submit shipping instructions, and manage necessary paperwork according to international customs requirements.
  • Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and truckers to book and process shipments, including full load and LTL hauls.
  • Ensure competitive pricing and high-quality service across carriers, truckers, and freight forwarders,
  • Provide guidance on export classification (USML, CCL), HTS, Schedule B codes, and shipping documentation.
  • Maintain and oversee the export authorization program, including creating, reviewing, and submitting export authorizations.
  • Review and process all necessary shipment documents to ensure compliance with applicable trade laws.
  • Create, review, and maintain import/export SOPs and recordkeeping processes in compliance with ITAR, EAR, FTR, and CBP regulations.
  • Assist in Customs inquiries, ISO audits, and the preparation of responses, ensuring all customs invoices meet contract requirements and local regulations.
Candidate Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in shipping/logistics with a focus on ocean/sea freight.
  • Proven experience in handling paperwork for both domestic and international import/export shipments.
  • Strong understanding of ITAR and EAR regulations, including Logistics, Import/Export Compliance, and Classification.
  • Proficiency in HTS classifications, COO determinations, and Customs Entry Auditing.
  • Knowledge of Trade Compliance, Free Trade Agreements, and Supply Chain Management.
  • Experience with Contracts/Subcontracts and maintaining compliance with Export Authorization Programs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a detail-oriented, self-starter attitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
