Job Description:

A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a highly entrepreneurial and collegial International Trade Partner. The ideal candidate will possess a small book of business and demonstrate a deep understanding of international trade regulations. This role involves advising U.S. and foreign clients on complex trade issues and regulatory requirements, including navigating the CFIUS review process and compliance with U.S. Customs regulations.

Duties:

  • Provide strategic counsel to U.S. and foreign clients on regulatory requirements for investment in the U.S.
  • Guide foreign investors through the U.S. government's CFIUS review process.
  • Advise clients on compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and other import-related regulatory requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of trade preference programs (e.g., USMCA, CAFTA) and trade remedies (e.g., AD/CVD, Sec. 301) to client matters.
  • Counsel clients on the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
  • Communicate with regulatory bodies regarding investigations, protests, voluntary disclosures, and settlements.
  • Manage and resolve trade litigation matters, if applicable.
  • Requirements:

  • Proven track record of advising on international trade and regulatory matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle CFIUS reviews and other government-related trade processes.
  • Experience with U.S. Customs regulations, trade preference programs, and trade remedies.
  • Familiarity with EAR, ITAR, and OFAC regulations.
  • Effective communication skills with experience interacting with regulatory agencies.
  • Trade litigation experience is a plus.
  • Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Skills:
