Job Description:

Position: Geriatric Psychiatry Nurse

Reports to: Geriatric Psychiatry Nurse Manager

Summary: Provide specialized nursing care to older adults with mental health conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of older adult patients.
  • Care Planning: Develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Medication Management: Administer medications and monitor for side effects.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Facilitate therapeutic activities and provide emotional support.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to psychiatric crises and ensure patient safety.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent.
  • Geriatric Mental Health Nursing Certification (GNHN) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychiatric nursing, with at least 1 year of experience in geriatric psychiatry.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of geriatric mental health.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
