Job Description:
Internship Program Program: USAID Industry-Led Skills Development (ILSD) Program Location: Tbilisi, Georgia Period of Performance: Approximately February 15, 2024 - August 15, 2024, 4 hour working day for 6 months. IESC is a leading U.S. nonprofit organization that fosters private sector development in the economically developing world. Our major funders today are the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), among others. IESC is implementing the USAID Industry-led Skills Development (ILSD) Program in Georgia. The Program develops industry-relevant human capacity that contributes to high-value employment opportunities and increased economic competitiveness in Georgia. The program achieves this by systematically engaging employers to equip Georgians with skills demanded in sectors with high growth potential and create direct linkages between training programs and employment opportunities. The program prioritizes interventions under three components: Component 1: Incentivize private sector engagement in skills development. Component 2: Establish skills training programs demanded by the private sector. Component 3: Increase access to training opportunities for rural and priority populations. The USAID Industry-led Skills Development Program is seeking three motivated students or graduates to participate in an internship program. The Program provides an opportunity for the selected current students or graduates to work at the USAID Industry-led Skills Development Program office to increase their understanding of working in the international development sector and the application of IESC principles, programs, and strategies. Selected interns will participate in specific areas of the Program to gain skills and work experience. The duration is approximately six months, and the hours will be part-time (approximately 20 hours per week). This is a paid internship and compensation is 400 GEL per month (net). The two internship positions are based in Tbilisi. Descriptions of each of the two internship positions (three total interns will be hired) are included below.Position: Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Intern (One position) Under the direct supervision of the MEL Coordinator, the MEL Intern will:
  • Contribute to the Program's overall MEL efforts;
  • Participate in internal team discussions/brainstorming sessions for better data analysis/visualization;
  • Assist the MEL team in the process of database maintenance (organizing documentation for online database);
  • Support the MEL team to effectively organize filing systems within the MEL unit;
  • Provide administrative support to the MEL team in organizing various activities, including Pause and Reflect sessions, MEL Workshops, ad hoc meetings, etc.;
  • Support the MEL team in creating internal evaluation documents, including meeting minutes, Pause and Reflect session reports, MEL workshop feedback, etc.;
  • Assist the MEL team in organizing coordination for the semi-annual beneficiary Survey; and,
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor to meet Program objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program with senior standing, pursuing a degree in a relevant discipline (Social Sciences, Economics, etc.).
  • Demonstrated academic excellence, previous experience with and a keen interest in statistics and data analysis.
  • Interest in Monitoring and Evaluation of Development Aid Programs and working on databases.
  • Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office (specifically, MS Excel).
  • In-depth knowledge of the local operating environment in Georgia is preferred.
  • Demonstrated integrity and organizational skills.
  • Maturity, detail-orientation, positive attitude, and self-motivation.
  • Eligible to work and reside in the Republic of Georgia.
  • Fluency in English and Georgian.
Position: Administration Intern (Two positions) Under the direct supervision of the Administrative and Finance coordinator, the Administration Interns will:
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Program office;
  • Make travel arrangements for staff and consultants;
  • Arrange meetings for international and local consultants as needed;
  • Coordinate the drivers' daily schedules;
  • Ensure the office is fully stocked with supplies and stationery; and,
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor to meet Program objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate or recent graduate of business administration, economics, mathematics, or other relevant area of study.
  • Strong academic background in business administration.
  • Excellent written English and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated integrity and organizational skills.
  • Maturity, detail-orientation, positive attitude, and self-motivation.
  • Eligible to work and reside in the Republic of Georgia.
  • Fluency in English and Georgian.
