Job Description: UPMC Hamot is currently hiring a part-time Invasive Cardiac Tech to join their Special Procedures team! This position will qualify for a generous sign-on bonus of $7,500 with a 2 year work commitment. \n Purpose:Performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative.Responsibilities:\n\nEnsures all images within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through the PACS, and are properly networked to appropriate electronic record for archival and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the procedures performed.\nMaintains continuing education and competency requirements for position\nDemonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity and respect.\nAble to work as team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently\nIdentifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures.\nReviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data.\nDocuments patient history in electronic record as required\nMaintains point of care testing standards, including daily quality control, for devices used for procedures\nDemonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the patient's fears and solicit their cooperation\nDemonstrate proper positioning and appropriate radiographic techniques for all diagnostic and interventional procedures.\nExhibits a clear understanding of correct patient preparation, equipment operations and patient monitoring systems\nDemonstrates competency in functioning in the first assist position\nFosters an environment that supports aseptic technique during procedures and patient safety with the incorporation of a time-out process\nAdministers contrast under the direction of the procedure physician\nSupport other departments as directed or assignedMust demonstrate a basic knowledge of the operation of both equipment and supplies\nSome responsibilities may not be applicable due to specific job locations\nProvides stand by call coverage, as scheduled, in accordance with system-wide stand by call procedure/policy\nPractices with attentiveness to radiation safety for the patient as well as others in the procedure room including appropriate use of lead shielding and monitoring devices.\nAssures documentation of patient radiation exposure in electronic record.\n\n\nAn Inside Look at UPMC Imaging Services: An Inside Look at UPMC Imaging Services - My Career at UPMC \nCareer Areas, Imaging: Imaging Careers at UPMC \n\nGraduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology (RT-R) or Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS).\n\n Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:\n\nARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist required.\nCPR certification is required.\nACLS certification is desired upon hire.
