JOB SUMMARY:

The Inventory Accounting Manager at Serenity Kids will be a strong partner and collaborator with the supply chain operations department and external supply chain partners. This role will be focused on inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting. This individual will be responsible for continued development, implementation, and maintenance of inventory and operations accounting processes, including cost analysis. The Accounting Manager will also collaborate with the Controller in the implementation of a new ERP (NetSuite). This role will be key to generating accurate historical financial data to lead financial analysis and inform critical business decisions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Perform month end entries and account reconciliations for inventory by product type, inventory reserves and accounting for obsolete and slow moving inventory, inventory in transit, goods invoiced and not received, goods received and not invoiced, inventory tolling fees, landed cost accruals, cost of goods sold, and inventory write-offs and destructions

* Partner with supply chain operations team to integrate accounting policies and procedures into various business functions; identify areas for improvement and automation

* Play a key role in the implementation of NetSuite, including setting up landed costs, assisting in the testing and data validation of third-party integrations with 3PL and Amazon locations

* Perform transactional research to analyze inventory, inventory reserves, landed cost, margin, for variances and reasonability

* Play a critical role in the execution of quarterly and annual inventory observations alongside operations for co-man and 3PL locations

* Collaborate to resolve inventory variances between book and physical inventory values

* Approve weekly bills related to inventory (3-way match) and other general ledger accounts impacting COGS

* Collaborate with internal team and external and internal auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance

* Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

* Bachelor's degree in accounting

* 4+ years of accounting experience in inventory and COGS financial reporting

* Experience with consumer-packaged goods (CPG), food and beverage, E-commerce or physical goods preferred

* Strong knowledge of US GAAP

* Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to perform lookups, SUMIFS, other formulas and pivot tables

* Strong understanding of cost accounting (avg costing/FIFO/LIFO) and ability to analyze and summarize key variance drivers for sku costs - strongly preferred

* Experience with NetSuite, QuickBooks and/or Bill.com preferred

* Certified public accountant (CPA) preferred

* Experience with fast-paced startup environments preferred

* Demonstrated attention to detail with the ability to create financial reports from scratch by organizing and analyzing large datasets

The compensation range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 plus bonus potential and equity, but will ultimately be determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge and skills.
