SummaryReports to the Materials Manager. Working directly with the Inventory Control Coordinator, the Inventory Associate replenishes, distributes and assembles medical supplies according to departmental policies and procedures. Be on their team.Replenishes, distributes and assembles medical supplies and stock items in an accurate and timely manner by:*
Checking and verifying receipt of all inbound stock.* Transporting stock to the appropriate location(s) based upon low unit of measure guidelines.* Completing the communication board for low unit of measure stock.* Completing the phone log request book.* Completing all stock requisitions.* Pulling the required stock to fill requisitions.* Maintaining a basic working knowledge of 2600+ supplies throughout Inventory Business Unit.* Maintaining a basic working knowledge of instrumentation in order to replenish in a timely fashion.* Channeling problems and/or complaints to appropriate person for resolution.* Reporting to Inventory Control Coordinator when assignments cannot be completed.* Providing input and assistance with the implementation of quality improvements.* Maintaining and presenting a positive customer service image at all times.* Resolving problems.* Assisting with the yearly inventory.* Answering and responding to telephone calls from the customer.Maintains an adequate level of supplies to meet the anticipated needs of internal customers by:* Identifying unit of measure.* Maintain a clean, uncluttered, and organized area through the orderly storage of supplies to protect personnel and hospital assets.* Establishing inventory par levels for L.U.M.* Accurately shelving return stock as needed.* Retrieving of stock from overstock carts as needed.* Rotating stock according to FIFO inventory best practices.* Checking for outdates according to department policy and procedure.* Reporting inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.Documents and reports errors with stock by:* Listing problem on inventory document and reporting to Coordinator (non-stickered or incorrect shipments, returns, not-received, etc.) within two days of receipt from vendor.* Checking the automatic charge/stock replenishment unit(s).* Restocking from the department all zero received items, if necessary.Updates and utilizes the computerized inventory system to obtain necessary information and to maintain accurate records by:* Locating proper inventory number(s), stock bin locations, quantity of stock available and on order.* Adding and deleting par levels.* Generating stock charge labels.* Generating labeling for L.U.M. carts.* Utilizing handheld apparatus for scanning and other inventory purposes.Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by:* Completing other job-related duties and projects as assigned.ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES* Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:* Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.* Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.* Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.* Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.* Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.* Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.* Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.* Complies with established organization and department policies.* Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.* Commitment to Beacon's six-point Operating System, referred to as The Beacon Way:* Leverage innovation everywhere.* Cultivate human talent.* Embrace performance improvement.* Build greatness through accountability.* Use information to improve and advance.* Communicate clearly and continuously.Education and Experience* The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Must be a minimum of 17 years of age. A minimum of six months of experience in all facets of distribution or sterile processing is preferred.Knowledge & Skills* Requires working knowledge of inventory systems, inventory control practices and stock distribution fundamentals.* Demonstrates basic computer skills necessary to utilize the Hospital's inventory system.* Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary to consistently interact with patients, families, visitors and team members in a courteous manner and to maintain positive working relationships.* Demonstrates the verbal and written communication skills necessary to complete forms and take messages in a legible, accurate manner.Working Conditions* Works in a distribution area with potential exposure to physical, chemical, and biohazards.Physical Demands* Requires physical ability and stamina (i.e., to lift up to 50 pounds; push carts; to remain on feet for extended periods of time) to perform the essential functions of the position.
